JUNIOR NORTH OF ENGLAND FINAL
After successfully winning the North West Micro League in September for the fifth year in succession our Junior team moved onto the North of England junior final competing against the other top five teams from the north of the country. The final took place on the 4th of October at Everton Park, virtually a home fixture. They competed against the top team from the north east, City of Newcastle, the Midlands league winners Northampton, the white rose league champions and last years National runners up Borough of Kirklees. The eastern league winners and previous National Champions Lincoln Vulcan’s. Last but not least Stockport Metro who are renowned throughout the country as one of the leading squads and in their swim off to get to the final knocked out last years national final 3rd place, City of Liverpool. With so many fantastic 9 – 12 year olds swimmers in the water including a number who have been identified and selected by British swimming to attend talent camps as prospective future internationals. After 12 events Southport had established an eight point lead. Both Kirklees and Stockport had a good mid gala stage but we managed to continued to hold both teams off maintaining our lead. In the second half of the gala Southport began to show their dominance and pulled away from the other two main rivals. In the last 9 team races Southport won 7 stretching their lead even further. In the final event ‘The Cannon’ right from the start Southport took a commending lead finishing over 10 meters ahead of any of their rivals, showing their complete strength in depth. Making Southport Swimming Club Junior Team being crowned as the top team in the North of England. The final result being Southport 234 Stockport 207 Kirklees 188 Newcastle 153 Northampton 147 and Lincoln 98. The team now marches on to meet the top four teams from the South of England final at the National Final in Enfield on 29th November in hope to retain their title as the top junior team in England.

PRESIDENTS CUP
Again the over 13’s – open swimmers strolled into the final of the Liverpool and District Presidents Cup which will take place at Everton Park on 1st November when it will be a close affair between us and Liverpool Penquins.

ECHO CUP
The Junior Beaver Team again did us proud in the second round of galas in this years Echo Cup comfortably reaching the final as one of the favourites. We have held this trophy for the last five years and I'm sure we will continue our success in the final on 25th October again at Everton Park.

NATIONAL ARENA SWIMMING LEAGUE
The senior team not to be out done competed in the Arena
National League of the North West. Swimming in the premier league against all the top squads from the Scottish boarder down the Pennines to the north Midlands. In this first round eight teams competed at the competition pool in Blackpool, with the Southport team finishing in third spot just behind Preston by one point with Stockport Metro winning. With the town teams leaving the Chester, Crewe, Satellite (Macclesfield), Pioneer 79(Accrington) and Wrexham teams some way behind. This places the seniors on target to reach the National League North West Premier final in early December. Well done to all the swimmers putting us in a strong position not only at junior level but at senior as well.
