NORTH WEST MICRO LEAGUE
At the recently held North West Micro League swim off final in Blackpool the Southport Junior Team swam exceptional winning the title for the 5th year in succession by an incredible 53 points over Preston, leaving Leyland and Fleetwood some way behind. This result took the club to the Junior North of England final yet again at the beginning of October. In winning the final the swimmers broke 12 existing league final records. Emma Whittingham 9yrs 25m fly and free, Holly Hibbot 9yrs 25m breaststroke, Issac Lea 9yr boys 25m fly, Josh Moniz 12yrs 50m back. Boys 12yrs Medley Team Sam Delmonte, Jack Swainson, Nathan Hall and Andy Janson. Girls 9yrs Free team Holly Hibbott, Catherine Alexander, Niamh Wilgar. Boys 11yrs Free Team Tom Birtles, Daniel Boal, Jacob Lea and Ethan Clark. 9yr Girls Medley Team Rachael Boal, Holly Hibbott, Emma Whittingham and Niamh Wilgar. Girls 12yr Free team Lauren Whiteside, Sophie Wilcock, Jade Forster and Lauren Cheston. Boys 12yrs Free Team Jack Swainson, Sam Delmonte, Nathan Hall and Andy Janson. Mixed cannon of Emma Whittingham, Issac Lea, Amy Carroll, Cameron Leece, Olivia Disley, Tom Birtles, Lauren Cheston and Jack Swainson. They now take on the best teams in the North of England at Liverpool on 4th October.
ECHO CUP
In the first round of the Echo Cup the Beaver team, swimming in this a Merseyside League also swam fantastically well, winning again by over 50 points leaving some good Merseyside teams like Ormskirk, Crosby, Everton and Bootle way behind, showing the depth we have in the club. There was some fantastic PB’s swam leaving us in a good position with one round to go then the final at the end of October.
PRESIDENTS CUP
Not to be out done, the 13 and over senior team went into the Liverpool and District Presidents Cup against all the local clubs in the district and came away with a comfortable win in their first gala by over 50 points, placing them top of the table by some margin. With one more round to go in October then the final in November this places the seniors in a strong position in an attempt to win a trophy the club has never won.
TADPOLES 2009
Fantastic start to the string of galas held on the Friday nights. In the first gala the swimmers won 14 1st – 3rd places and another 14 4th – 8th places, with the highlight being David Gillard breaking the 12yr 400m Freestyle record by 15secs. The second gala was much the same with Southport continuing to dominate the medal rostrum winning 13 1st-3rd and 13 4th – 8th positions. If you want to check all the results please check them out on
